Multimodal Pain Management

Individualized Pain Management to Improve Comfort, Mobility, and Quality of Life

Pain can affect pets at every life stage, from young, active pets with injuries to senior pets experiencing arthritis, mobility changes, or chronic discomfort. Our multimodal pain management services are designed to help pets feel better, move more comfortably, and maintain a better quality of life.

Dr. Rachel Cachero has a special interest in pain management and additional training in alternative modalities, including IVCA-certified chiropractic care. She focuses on practical, individualized treatment plans that combine multiple therapies to support long-term comfort and mobility.

Our Approach to Pain Management

Pain management is not one-size-fits-all. Each pet’s plan is customized based on their condition, lifestyle, mobility, age, medical history, and family goals.

Our goal is incremental improvement through a multimodal approach. By combining several therapies, we can often reduce discomfort, improve function, and help pets stay active and comfortable for as long as possible.

Pain Management Services and Modalities

Depending on your pet’s needs, a multimodal pain management plan may include:

  • Comprehensive pain assessment
  • Individualized treatment planning
  • Acupuncture
  • Therapeutic laser therapy
  • Joint injections, including PRP and other intra-articular options
  • Chiropractic evaluation and adjustments
  • Targeted exercise and rehabilitation guidance
  • Prescription pain medications
  • Medical monitoring for pets on long-term medications
  • Nutritional and supplement guidance
  • Weight management recommendations
  • Telemedicine follow-ups for progress checks and treatment adjustments

Chiropractic Care

Dr. Cachero is IVCA-certified in veterinary chiropractic care. Chiropractic evaluation and adjustments may be recommended as part of a broader pain management plan, especially for pets experiencing mobility issues, musculoskeletal discomfort, stiffness, or changes in movement.

Supplements, Nutrition, and Preventive Support

We emphasize early and preventive strategies whenever possible. Supporting joint health before mobility loss becomes severe can help protect function and comfort over time.

Recommendations may include:

  • Muscle-strengthening exercises
  • Weight management
  • Omega-3 fatty acids
  • Joint-support supplements
  • Glucosamine or eggshell membrane alternatives
  • Evidence-based product recommendations
  • Guidance on when to begin supplements or supportive care

Our team can help you choose appropriate products and develop a realistic plan for your pet’s needs.

What to Expect During a Pain Management Consultation

Complex pain consultations are available as 60-minute appointments. These visits allow time for a thorough discussion of your pet’s history, diagnostics, mobility concerns, goals, and treatment options.

Simpler adjustments, medication changes, or trial therapies may sometimes be handled during a standard exam appointment. Your veterinarian will recommend a full pain consultation when more time is needed to create a comprehensive plan.

Telemedicine Follow-Ups

Telemedicine follow-ups may be available for progress checks, medication monitoring discussions, supplement guidance, and treatment plan adjustments. These visits can be helpful for ongoing care once an initial in-person evaluation has been completed.

Supporting a Low-Stress Experience

Our clinic uses low-stress handling practices to help reduce fear and improve outcomes during veterinary care. For pets who are anxious, painful, or reactive during visits, we may also discuss cooperative care, pre-visit medication options, or telemedicine assessments to help make future appointments calmer and more successful.
